I have tried 2 brand new Samsung Evo plus 32 GB SD cards. Every time I try Etcher on windows goes through the process and gives me the final message of "1 Target Failed".
I tried on Mac and it will not write the image either.
I also tried Apple Pi Baker and get errors. I have tried 4.3, 4.3.1, and 4.5.

Confirm that you downloaded the zip file and then extracted the .iso file and are using that file - not trying to write the .zip file?
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

I use dotnetdiskimager on windows and just select the image file to write.  No extract needed.  very simple to use.

I had the error when trying to us etcher.  I had to go to the folder properties and select unblock to get it to write.  I was also able to use windisk32 to write the image.  I have had a couple SD cards act weird when trying to format with the SDformatter  I had to format them with windows first then with sdformatter to get them to work.

Formatting a uSD card prior to Imaging is not needed. Any format will be totally removed by the imaging process. In dotNet Disk Imager (my preferred Windows imager), there is a Wipe option that ensures any partitions are gone. I will usually wipe, but I don't pre-format.

Thanks guys.
Update: I was able to get etcher to write successfully in windows.
I use 7zip to unzip the file. This put the img file in the selected directory.
I then tried the windows extract option. This saved the file into its own folder.
I'm in business.

Not sure why it didn't work on Mac. I've done many images from the same Mac and had no issues.

Did not know that my procedure had just carried over from when you extracted to the sd card.
