Set Up Question

I purchased 1 Differential Expansion board and 4 smart receivers.   I plan to put 2 smart receivers each in the same box.  Can I run 1 Rj45 cable to the box to 1 smart receiver then connect that Smart receiver to the other smart receiver or doI have to run 2 Rj45 cables to the box?
If I connect 1 smart receiver to the next what are the port numbers?  Will it have separate IPs for each?

Yes.  That's why the smart receiver boards have two RJ-45 connectors.  Read the docs - there are switch settings on which board is which, and the last one on the string gets terminations.

Receiver boards don't have IP addresses.  Although it is an RJ-45 connector, it is NOT Ethernet.  Don't mix Ethernet and the serial data to receiver boards.  Bad thins can happen.

I read the docs and saw that I could add them but I have not seen the limits.
