got my pi hooked up and was going to do some testing on my B+ with the beta 1.0 and my video.....hooked my PJ up to the Pi via HDMI and rebooted,  now my PI will show in the UI and I can control it but I cannot play videos and on the projector it stops at "FPP login" and goes no further.  When i try to select a MP4 to play through the PI it skips it and goes to a MP3 in the playlist.  Thought maybe it was the way I hooked it up but I unhooked the PJ and rebooted but it will not play an MP4 now?  thoughts?

I haven't tested with HDMI output, but it seems to work fine with composite.

Can you look at the 'fppd.log' file in the Logs tab of the FPP File Manager and see if there are any errors in the log when it tries to play the .mp4?

i just loaded my vidtest playlist with .mp4s on it, and its playing and displaying on my hdmi monitor correctly....

Can you play the mp4 direct from the command line - ex go to your video directory on the usb flash and omxplayer filename.mp4 - does that play?
is the mp4 video still there or is it missing?

Can you post one of the videos so that we can test it locally on our end?

I do have a monitor that is picky about MP4 formats. The same video plays on all other pi's and monitor that I have except for this one monitor.

Please post the file and email one of us where it is if you don;t want it made public.

This could be due to the video resolution.  I think there is a setting that controls whether the Pi tries to switch the output resolution when it plays a video.

OK...so I was poking around this morning and I ran across another member's post who said they made sure the mp4 file was selected as "media only" and not "media and sequence", so I went back and checked and I had it selected as media and sequence so I changed it and VIOLA it worked.  I must have looked over that the first time I was searching because I searched several times not finding anyone else having the issue.   Now i just need to find a composite cable and try it now....or should I push my luck  :P

Thanks guys for the quick responses.  Sorry for not getting back earlier been out putting up the display!!!

I know some stuff. For example i know I don't know anything.

A couple other users have run into the same issue.  I will try to get a warning added when you select the 'media and sequence' type but only associate one or the other file types.

Thanks Capt....It was my stupidity on that one for sure.   :-[

Should have seen that comment the first time I looked at that thread.

Good to know on the composite.   Capt.  you had me confused there for a moment when I looked at my B+ and wanted to say to myself "there is no composite on this thing"  as I looked for the yellow plug like the model B......... :o......Ill get there eventually lol.

Another note, just so you don't go pulling your hair, some 3.5 jacks like from a camcorder have the video (yellow) and right audio (red) switched. So if you don't first succeed with the standard yellow as video, try the red.

Attached is a diagram I found detailing the A/V pinout on the B+ along with several other non-standards in use. :)  Notice that even the ground is not in the same position on all cables.  I think I have one where I can just swap the red and yellow, but I have another that doesn't work at all.  I haven't tested it yet, but I assume it is because it is the first type with the ground swapped.
