The EEPROM on FPP capes will sometimes become corrupt and will brick the controller. The instructions in this document were created by ACL's Skymaster and as part of the instructions in there there is the process to erase/zero/blank the EEPROM. This is the first step required if the eeprom becomes corrupt and unreadable.
